The Riviera Shirt is a must-sew design that ticks all the boxes—a perfect transitional piece for autumn or spring. Dress it up for work or pair with jeans for a relaxed weekend look. Designed with the SFD Shirt Pattern, it features a flattering V-neckline, front yoke with pocket flap, high-low hem with tie front (or longer length), and an easy placket and cuff. Bonus: Designing a balloon sleeve video included.

Lesson 2 - Designing The Front Pattern Pieces

When you’re designing the tie detail, it’s a good idea to give yourself a little extra fabric, just in case. I’m working with my own measurements, and when you apply the formula to using your personal measurements, it might need some tweaking. If the tie section ends up too long, you can always trim it back.
